Nightlife In Nepal

In the majority of restaurants across the capital, the kitchen closes by 9 pm (11pm on weekends). The city laws in Kathmandu require all music to be put off by 12 pm and people on the streets to be on their way home. Though most of the locals call it a night early and get up with the rising sun, there are exceptions in the forms of selective places and private parties which you can enter by invitation or passes. A number of bars and a selective range of nightclubs stay open until after midnight.

Additionally, Casinos stay action packed too.  Among the many reasons people travel to Nepal, especially for the South Asian tourists, Casinos are a major attraction. Seven Casinos are located in the premises of Kathmandu’s top hotels which offer 24 hours of fun and games like baccarat, blackjack, flush, poker, pontoon, roulette, other card games and slot machines. All the games are played in chips and they can be bought with US dollars or Indian rupees. Free food and beverages are of course offered inside these Casinos.

Though night clubs that open up till late are limited in Nepal, clubbing is still a fun experience. The night clubs in Kathmandu start to buzz after 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. In the Lake city of Pokhara, the clubs start as early as 7:30 or 8:00 in the evening. However due to the law of the land, only a few night clubs stay open after midnight. Though it varies with different clubs, most always have a dance floor with drinks only allowed in the bar and lounge areas.
Club parties are safe as bouncers stand by to ensure smooth operations within.  Cops are on night vigil on the streets to ensure security. On weekends, day clubbing is also not unusual among young high school/college going crowds as organizers throw parties in these same venues that are open to all but mostly attended by youngsters. The tickets are comparatively very low priced for day time events.
