Everest Marathon is a non-profit venture. It is organized to support rural health and Educational projects in Nepal.


It is basically conducted by Bufo Ventures Limited.


Everest Marathon Fund is a charity based venture registered in UK. The fund can also be donated online.



The Marathon basically starts at Gorak Shep which is 5483 m above sea level and ends at Sherpa Town at Namchhe bazar which is 3446 m. The trail is downhill over ice and snow of about 42 km.


For taking part in the Marathon you need to have formal experience on Mountain racing and running.


Guinness World Record brands Everest Marathon as the highest Marathon in the world.


The race has taken place 14th time since 1987.
